Brandishing a weapon towards the reception her music receives, Addison Rae’s “Fame is a Gun” is an electro-pop track that takes inspiration from Sheila E.’s 1984 cut, “The Glamorous Life.” It serves as the fifth single from Rae’s debut album, Addison.
Thematically, Addison is empowered by the attention she garners from her social media status. Regardless of the feedback, she will come out on top, basking in the glitz and glamour.
The song was first teased on a billboard in Shibuya, Japan. On May 27, 2025, Addison officially announced it via Instagram. The American performer previewed it the day before its release.
“Fame is a Gun” arrived with a music video directed by Sean Price Williams; interestingly enough, the intro to the video states just “Addison” without the “Rae,” adding more fuel to the artist’s rebrand.
