"Us v Them" is the sixth track off LCD Soundsystem's 2007 LP "Sound of Silver". There are many interpretations of this track, the most popular being that it is a commentary on being famous in the music industry - it starts with people anticipating the band's next record ("The time has come, the time has come"). Around the bridge, James wishes that he could shut out all the fame ("Cloud, block out the sun"), wishing that people would know him as a person, not as a music personality ("Please anyone, talk to me"). In the music industry, audiences are detached from the people that produce the media they consume, while the people behind the music are detached from their audiences. Both parties not knowing as much about each other, as a result, unknowingly divide themselves into "in-groups" and "out-groups" - also known in neurology as the "us-versus-them mentality".

"It's just us and them, over and over again."
