“I’d Rather See Your Star Explode” is the first single from Slaves new album Beautiful Death, released in February 2018. The track was premiered through Alternative Press on January 20, 2017, accompanied by a music video.
Jonny Craig has been dealing with a drug problem for a long time now. His ongoing health problems have caused tension, which lead to being kicked out of Emarosa and Dance Gavin Dance, (twice). Most recently, Slaves announced that they would be splitting up.
On May 20th, Slaves announced that they would stay together, with Jonny and Colin (bass) as the only original members remaining. This song is Jonny talking directly to the fans, understanding that their confidence in him is shaken, and wanting to restore faith in him.
