According to the The End Where I Begin Songfacts, the traumatic events surrounding the illness then death of guitarist Mark Sheehan's mother were an influence on The Script album . For instance Sheehan told The Sun newspaper that, "she told me that every end is a beginning of something too, so the song The End Where I Begin was born."
