“Anthem Part Two” is a protest anthem, looking at how adults are already ruining kids' futures.
It’s the first track from blink-182’s fourth studio album, Take Off Your Pants And Jacket, and a sequel to “Anthem,” the last song on the band’s preceding record, 1999’s mainstream breakthrough, Enema of the State.
In the official program for the band’s 2001 TOYPAJ tour, Tom wrote:
“This is a song that I’m super proud of. It is really all about being a kid and feeling like fuck, if everybody says I’m fucked up and I’m wrong and I need to act differently then hey – it’s your fault (the adults) cause they are the ones that chose my schools, laws, and well… you get the picture.“
