The second studio album from Jaden Hossler, A.K.A jxdn, has gone through various name changes up to this point. The album was initially teased alongside the first snippet of “What The Hell” with the title “Everyone’s Bleeding!”. Following the passing of Hossler’s close friend, Cooper Noriega, the album name was changed to “Life’s Full of Bumps”. On his first headlining tour, Jaden made little mention of an upcoming second album outside of his inclusion of “What The Hell” in the setlist. On his second headlining tour, Jaden discussed a potential release date of June 28, 2023. This date was Cooper Noriega’s birthday and was set as a way to memorialize and remember Cooper. Following this tour, however, facing increasing mental health struggles, chose to enter Rehab and seek treatment. This time in rehab was during the date the album was slated to release so it was not able to be released on that date. Following his treatment, Jaden changed his artist name from jxdn to Jaden Hossler and released a trap-pop single titled “Chrome Hearted”, indicating that the next album would move in that sonic direction. This was short-lived, as he quickly changed his artist name back to jxdn with the release of his cover of D4VD’s hit song “Romantic Homicide”. After the romantic homicide cover was released, Jaden teased multiple songs, notably What the Hell and When The Music Stops. He later revealed that When The Music Stops would be the title track and lead single for the next album, thus changing the album name to “When the Music Stops”.

jxdn shared,

"What do I hear when the music stops? I heard silence like I had never heard before. I heard an emptiness that overtook me. I missed the music of my life, I missed the safety it gave me. I had lost my love for the feeling. I went to hell and back since my last album. I questioned myself, I questioned my music, and I questioned life and its purpose. And through all that, I heard faint sounds ever so often that resembled a beautiful melody. They guided me through the silence back to the place I call home – the music. Keep listening, Keep holding on to tomorrow. Especially when you don’t hear anything anymore. Especially when the music stops. This one’s for. This one’s for you. This one’s for us."
